[OOC] Fade Rift Info Post

Basics
NAME: Myrobalan Shivana AGE: 30 NATIONALITY: Marcher (Hasmal) RACE: Elf OCCUPATION: Creation mage, hobbyist beekeeper, amateur theologian; Chantry Relations project head TITLE/RANK: Knight-Enchanter | HEIGHT: 5'4" BUILD: Solid HAIR: Wheat-blond EYES: Hazel SKIN: Middling tan BEARING: Cheerful |
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Shorter and huskier than most elves. Sometimes still wears a blindfold around because the world's just too visually noisy and he knows the Gallows better when he can't see it. |

Reputation
Hasmal Circle: Chantry-loyal Circle mage. Had an amateur theology group going when he was much younger. Also slept with just about anyone in the Circle who was willing.
They say he put out his own eyes with his bare hands sometime during the Mage-Templar War. Hasn't been the same since; he was training to be a knight-enchanter but the blindness put paid to that.
Typically a flirtatious, talkative, pleasant guy despite all that.
Kirkwall: Might've sent some bees after somebody once. Will talk to nearly anyone, at length. Curious about all things rifter. Perhaps a little too casual about how cool explosions are. Used to be blind; now he's not. Apparently the recipient of a miraculous healing.
Heads up the Chantry Relations project. Cade is his scribe. Known to be sharing a room and probably a bed with Simon Ashlock.
Hooks
* Prone to mooning around after any templars who get within a fifty yard radius of him.
* Keeps bees. Summons bees. Bees bees bees.
* Fascinated by clever uses of magic.
* LET'S TALK ABOUT THE CANTICLE OF SHARTAN
* Is a mage sleeping with a templar; most people might have Feelings about that.
* Night owl? Early bird? Good chance Myr's awake at any given hour of the day, owing to disordered sleep.
* Generally, he will get into just about anything that's going on out of pure curiosity.
* Has very strong feelings about the Chantry. Isn't talking about them as much these days in lieu of doing something about it. Weird?
Approval & Gifts
APPROVES + Loyalty + Dedication to one's duty + Social harmony and improvement + Andrastian heresies that redeem elves and/or mages + Love ♥ | - Unrestricted mage freedom - Himself, probably - Unrighteous coercion of any sort - Assholes who take advantage of - Abuse of mages |
GIFTS Maps! Anything that's got a pleasant texture, sound, or scent to it. Flowers. Tidbits of new information on his various interests (theology, plants, insects, magic, ...). Food (food is love). Spend an hour reading a new book to him and he'll love you forever. He's not very good at focusing on text yet. |
Expanded Strengths/Weaknesses
-- Unconventional -- in part owing to his difficulty with learning spells the "usual" way and in part owing to his strange way of thinking about magic, Myr makes unusual uses of his spells fairly routinely. Creation already lends itself to lots of out-of-combat utility; he's just expanding on that.
-- Confident -- even if he's faking that he knows what he's doing, he's faking it very convincingly.
-- Persistent
Neutral
-- Fearless -- with a couple of exceptions (see below), he's simply...not afraid of things or the possibility of harm coming to him. He has been doing well enough so far at navigating the world that he's not afraid to try things that are, probably, not very safe for a blind mage to do on his own--or dare others into doing things with him that could get him hurt. This can also get him in trouble as a loyalist, since he will not shy away from or demur about his beliefs if it comes to a direct challenge of them.
Weaknesses
-- Entropy magic -- has a spot of the ol' PTSD when it comes to this. What's worse is he won't acknowledge it, won't talk about it, and won't try to avoid the possibility of being fielded with an entropy mage because he thinks he can handle it right up until something's cast in his general vicinity and he panics.
-- Learns by doing/doesn't test well -- you can tell Myr over and over again how to do something, but until you show him how to do it, he'll have Maferath's own time picking it up. This meant he advanced more slowly than his peers through the Circle until he hit upon ways to learn and remember that worked for him (mostly writing things down and coming up with gestural components better matched to their spells).
-- Trusting
-- Naive
Quirks:
-- Can't whistle--don't even bother trying to teach him he just can't.
-- Habitually forgets Dalish words but remembers the translations just fine.
